???? A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE FIFTY THREE:
PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:
…Aunty Ifeoma paused.
‘My daughter, my son Thompson, the other day, told me that he’s in love with you. And he wants to settle down with you. I told him that I wouldn’t be the one wooing a wife for him. That if he knows what his heart wants, he should go all out for it. He should fight hard for it..,’ she sighed. ‘Nne m, everything happens for a purpose. What’s happening now is nothing but fate. And as a mother who has the interest of her daughter at heart, I will advise you give Thompson a chance in your life. Stop scaring him away for a man who doesn’t value you in his life..’
‘Aunty, I don’t think I will love a man again. As love is very wîçkèd. If I came out of this, I am done with love. I am done with men. I will never have anything to do with men again in my life. I don’t think I will ever give any man my heart again in my life…’, Martha stated.
THE CONTINUATION:
Jilting Kelechi at this point was the best decision Martha made.
Martha had finally let go of KC with his promiscuous life.
But of the truth, letting go of a relationship of six good years was not an easy thing for Martha to do. A relationship she had sacrificed everything to build. A relationship she poured her heart and mind into hoping it would lead to marriage.
It was a very big pity that their relationship had to end that way. But it was a good thing that it ended, atleast, for the sake of Martha’s sanity.
However, Martha could not let go of KC’s picture off her head despite how hard she had tried.
As nostalgia of their good times tormented her so much.
At times, Martha wished their relationship never ended.
The thing was this: Kelechi happened to be Martha’s first love. A man who made her feel like a real woman for the first time in her life. As he was the person that deflowèrèd her.

Meanwhile Thompson has been doing everything possible best to keep in touch with Martha throughout his stay in the East.
But Martha was proving very difficult to get. Even to pick his calls or reply to his text was by the grace of God.
Even at that, Thompson was never discouraged at all. He never relent. As he kept pushing hard, hoping one day he would win the heart of Martha.
‘…I would like to take you out on a date whenever I am back in Lagos. Please, I will be glad if you permit me to do so.. ,’ Thompson requested. He was on a phone conversation with Martha that night. That night, Thompson was very lucky that Martha picked his call.
‘I don’t think I am ready for that, Thompson’, she replied, reluctantly.
‘I know I may be asking too much, but please grant me the request to take you out. I promise, you will never regret it. Please do this one thing for me..’, Thompson pleaded.
‘Okay, let’s see how it goes..’
‘Yes! Yes!,’ Thompson could be heard screaming amid happiness on the phone like he won a lottery.
‘Hey! Hey!,’ Martha interrupted. ‘Don’t be too excited. I have not said Yes to your request yet. And I am not promising anything yet. It’s still under probability,’ Martha said.
Martha’s word didn’t even discourage Thompson. As his joy knew no bounds that night. To him, it was as if Martha had accepted a marriage proposal from him.
————————————————
Thompson had returned back to Lagos.
He lived on Lagos Island. He had a four bedroom duplex he bought in the heart of Island.
Martha had finally said yes to his date proposal after much persuasion from Thompson.
They were to go on the date the following Sunday.
Thompson had chosen the best hotel in Lagos island for the date.
Meanwhile Thompson got Martha a set of expensive outfits for the date including shoes and bag.
On that fateful day, Thompson drove himself down to the mainland to pick Martha up.
Martha had already dressed up when Thompson drove in.
Out of joy, Aunty Ifeoma had to assist in dressing Martha up as if it was her wedding day. You really need to see the joy in that old woman’s face.
Martha was looking so astonishing and gorgeous in that outfit. An epitome of beauty she really was.
As she walked out from her room, heading downstairs, her elegance and beauty alone sent goosebumps down Thompson’s body.
‘Hey, I never knew you are this beautiful. You are the most beautiful creature I ever set my eyes upon. You are a special made..,’ Thompson complemented, deep down from his heart.
‘Thank you,’ Martha replied with a charming dimple smile, flashing her gap teeth, tormenting Thompson emotionally more and more.
Thompson, as a gentleman, had to lead the way for her downstairs. He offered a helping hand to her so as to walk her down the stairs.
Aunty Ifeoma admired them passionately from the balcony as the two walked to the vehicle. She was of the wish that the two would end up together as husband and wife. In fact, if it was of her power, the two would have become husband and wife a long time ago.
Aunty Ifeoma was still watching with great admiration as Thompson opened the vehicle’s door for Martha to hop in.
Martha entered and Thompson gently shut the vehicle door closed.
As Thompson turned to go take his seat, he caught the sight of Aunty Ifeoma from the balcony, thumbing him up for a good job well done so far.
‘Well done my son. I wish you all the best,’ Aunty Ifeoma signaled. Thompson had decoded the message.
‘Thank you mama. Just be praying for me,’ Thompson replied.
‘I will, my son’, she assured.
With a heart full of joy, Thompson hopped into the vehicle.
Moments later, he started the vehicle and off they went.
Aunty Ifeoma stood, waving passionately at them until she lost sight of their vehicle.
Even at that, Aunty Ifeoma still stood transfixed, very lost in thought. The special treat Thompson just gave to Martha had provoked the nostalgia of her late husband. As the little drama had reminded her how special her late husband used to treat her back then when he was alive.
Aunty Ifeoma later retired inside amid tears.

Thompson drove into the hotel and packed under the instruction of the security man.
He alighted down from the car and opened the door for Martha. Then offered her a helping hand to come down.
Martha alighted down majestically like a queen.
The ambiance of the hotel alone was superb. Martha loved what she was seeing. She never knew that Lagos had heaven on earth.
They walked inside with very impressive beauty steps just like a newly wedded couple, to the admiration of the onlookers, especially the security men.
It was a private dinner date.
The dinner arrangement was top notch.
It was undoubtedly an experience Martha won’t forget so soon. The ambience, the silence, the sound of just their words. The comfort of doing what pleases them without anyone intervening or interrupting them.
‘…once again, thank you for this great opportunity to have a beautiful damsel like you with me this afternoon. I must confess, it’s a big privilege,’ Thompson appreciated Martha so much, looking deep into her eyes.
‘You are welcome,’ Martha replied. She was very shy, avoiding eye contact with Thompson.
‘I hope you like the wine? Or you have a favorite?’, Thompson asked, smiling in admiration of her.
‘I like it. The taste is superb,’ Martha tendered her honest review.
‘Are you sure? Or you have your favorite?’, Thompson added.
‘I am sure,’ she paused. ‘I don’t really have a favorite when it comes to wine. Any good wine, I am okay with that provided it has no much alcoholic content,’ Martha explained. ‘Hey, I hope this wine doesn’t have much alcohol? I didn’t even check before drinking. Because I don’t have a ‘strong head’ for alcoholic drinks,’ she added.
‘This is Champagne Boerl & Kroff Magnum,’ he paused. ‘Thus far Boërl & Kroff have only produced one edition of NV Brut. It is a wine of unquestionable quality made in a more traditional, gastronomic style. This broad-shouldered wine is voluptuous and intense on the palate and is punctuated with flavors of citrus peel, acacia blossom and toasty savouriness.
It’s a good wine. I know you will definitely love it. And it’s one of my favorite wines also.
