Ayra Starr Finally Responds To Comparisons With Tyla
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has addressed the ongoing comparisons with South African artist Tyla.
This discussion follows their nominations for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards, where Tyla took home the award.
In her debut interview with BBC Radio 1 Xtra, Ayra Starr emphasized that she refuses to let these comparisons affect her relationship with Tyla.
She referred to the South African diva as her โhome girlโ and her โG.โ
She said, โTyla is my homegirl, thatโs my G. That doesnโt bother me at all. I donโt care about all of that. Less noise, more music.
Letโs support each other, like, why not, like afrobeats and African music is about to take over the world and we have to come together to be able to do that. Thereโs no need for comparisons.โ
