I opened my eyes checking the clock. It was 5:45 am.
“Sh*t!!” I yelled yanking off the duvet. I ran into the bathroom to take the quickest bath I have ever had in my life.
I got in less than two minutes, I am sure I didn’t even take my bath well but that didn’t really matter now.
I am getting used to my new way of living. I rushed into the room and took a casual shirt and trousers. The second cloth that came with me to LA.
I combed my hair and didn’t even take breakfast before walking out of the house.
I took to my heels immediately I got to the street. This time last month, I never thought I would be running down the streets of LA. If someone told me, I would have f**king denied.
I sighted the factory very soon and I couldn’t wait to run inside the doors. I don’t want the “boss” getting mad at me on the first day.
“Come on Danny!! You have just two minutes.” I heard Teo yell from the factory door. He was stretching forth his hand with in it.
“What is that?” I asked as I got to him panting heavily.
“Your card. You need to slot it in before 6am or at exactly 6am, or your salary won’t be complete at the end of the week.” He said as we both ran inside.
I saw where to slot the card in, and I didn’t immediately it was 6am.
“I saved your f**king a*s.” He said and I smiled nodding.
“Yeah, and I am happy about that. Thanks Teo.” I said still panting heavily. I was sweating profusely even before staring the job.
Gosh this will be so hard.
“Come. We should be next to the truck now. Though we start loading by 8am.” He said and I furrowed my brows.
“8am? Why are we resuming 6am then?” I asked and he smiled.
“You prepare for the work ahead. The people in the inner factory have started work already. So we all resume the same time. No cheating.” He said and I shrugged my shoulders.
“Well fair enough.” I said and he smiled. I was about looking away when I saw his attention drawn to something.
I traced his gaze and I saw he was staring at a wow….. A beautiful lady.
“Who is she?” I asked as she approached us. She had a smile on her face.
“Priscilla. The most beautiful lady in the factory. She works as the secretary.” He said and I sighed.
“High class hun.” I said and he nodded.
“I have this thing for her. But I know it can’t work.” He said and I looked at him.
“Why do you think so?” I asked.
“A secretary to me? Come on. That can’t work.” He said and I smiled.
“Nothing is impossible okay?” I said and he scoffed.
“Here she comes.” He whispered and I looked up to see her right in front of us.
“Hi.” She said smiling.
“Hey.” We both chorused grinning.
“You are Danny right? The new worker.” She said and I nodded.
“Yes I am.” I replied.
“I am Priscilla.” She said Stretching her hands forward.
“Nice meeting you.” I replied and I saw Teo look away. I understand him already.
“You are handsome.” She said and I smiled.
“Been flattered by a beautiful lady is the best thing that can happen to a man. Thank you.” I said and she smiled.
“You really know how to use your words.” She said and I grinned.
“Maybe.” I said shaking my head.
“Okay, I am still here.” Teo said and I laughed.
“Yeah I can see you. Hi.” She said smiling faintly.
“Hi how are you doing?” He asked grinning.
“Putting up.” She replied.
“So what are you doing tonight?” She asked looking at me.
“Tonight?” I asked looking at Teo. And he nodded for me to say yes. I didn’t want to go actually but I cooked up a plan already.
“Deal. But we close 10pm.” I said and she sighed.
“We go straight from work.” She said.
“Perfect. He will be there.” Teo address for me and I nodded.
“See you later.” She said walking away.
“I don’t want to go you know.” I said looking away.
“I don’t want you to go either.” He replied and I chuckled.
“So what were you planning?” I asked and he smiled.
“It’s very simple. You keep her hopes high, and then you don’t show up and I go instead. I will tell her you were too tired since it was your first day, you are yet to get used to it.” He said and I nodded.
“That’s good. You shot your shoot, am sure going to be tired by 10pm. And what if she looks for me before 10.” I said and he sighed.
“That’s easy. You leave 30 minutes before the time,you give me your card and then slot it in by 10pm. How about that?” He asked.
“Sounds brilliant but risky. What if the boss notices?” I asked.
“Trust me he won’t. I have been looking for a way to go out with Priscilla, and now is my chance if you help me.” He said and I smiled.
“I will be of help don’t worry.” I said and he nodded happily.
“Thanks. So do you have an eye for any lady here since yesterday?” He asked and I laughed.
“Dude I just got here. Need to gain ground first before ladies.” I said and he smiled.
“You are kinda sluggish. Gosh it won’t take you an hour to see a very hot girl on the street. You should try them. Been single is enjoyable but damn boring.” He said and I smiled.
“Okay boss.” I replied and he smiled.
“I am your boss here. That’s true.” He said and I grinned.
“It’s time guys. Come on.” We heard another guy from the other side calling on us. I guess the package is ready to be delivered.
“Are you ready?” He asked and I nodded smiling.
“Ready as ever.” I replied as we both approached the truck.
“Wait. Your uniform.” He said and I furrowed my brows.
“Uniform? You mean the overall?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yeah. Come.” He said pulling me away.
Gosh. I am too used to suits. Such a wonderful change.
