I woke up from the bed still feeling very sleepy and tired. It seemed like I was wrestling with a giant in the dream world.

I couldn’t wait for someone to remind me that today is my girlfriend’s 23rd birthday.

I quickly picked up my mobile phone and dialed her number. It rang shortly before she answered.

“Hello my angel, good morning.” I said.

“Morning baby, how was your night?’, she asked with a euphonious voice.

“It would have been amazing, but for the fact that I missed you makes it to be so lonely”, I tittered.

I heard her snort.
“Oops! Sorry about that baby. I wish I was there to keep you company.” She replied feeling sorry.

“Oh no! Not again that someone needs to remind me of my birthday again.” She screamed.

I laughed, I knew it, I knew she wasn’t gonna remember, she never remembers her day.

I spranged up from the bed, took my tooth brush and applied my paste.

I sat down and was about eating my portion of the daily bread when Juliana broke the silence she had been avoiding all this while.

“So big brother, I wanna know if it’s a crime for you to also say good morning to me?”, she asked giving a frown.

I was wondering why she said it in a very loud tone, like she was gonna hit me or something.

I chuckled inwardly.
“Sis, has it gotten to that? Well am sorry if I haven’t greeted. Good morning Her Royal Majesty.” I tittered, even taking a bow.

“Same here brother”, she responded smiling sheepishly, I just shook my head and ignored her, turning to my food.

Silence invaded the atmosphere after her response. Nobody was saying anything right from that very moment.

My dad was about to finish his food, and then I decided to break the ice with the current news of Anne’s birthday to them.

I cleared my throat and Juliana subconsciously turned to me, then looked away immediately.

“Please announcement announcement, I wanna grief your indulgence that today is Anne’s birthday”, I said.

“Are you for real son or is it just a fallacy?”, my mother asked.

I smiled.
“Mom I can’t lie to you today is her birthday. I even called her this morning to remind her of her day, as she always never remembers”, I said.

“I can’t wait to attend”, mother remarked.

“I will definitely be there too to attend her birthday party”, father said getting up from his seat, I was shocked and marvelled, but I didn’t show it.

“Okay mom and dad, I am so much elated for your kind gestures”, I appreciated.

Just as I was about getting up, my sister chipped in.

“Today, I will see what you gonna present as a birthday gift to your so call girlfriend”, she said sarcastically.

I snorted.
“My friend, don’t even dare to talk about my welfare. Better focus on your own relationship with that so called boyfriend of yours”, I fired back.

The birthday party was such an enormous one. I, a lot of my friends, colleagues and schoolmates were all present.

I was surprised when I sat in a corner and saw them arrive one after the other.

The atmosphere was such an inspirational one with rollicking birthday motifs.

The house was embelished with balloons and other glitter materials.

The birthday cake was light up and waiting to cut the cake was the next target.

I was already dressed with my black Jeans, polo and white sneakers. I couldn’t wait to set my eyes on her as she approached the birthday scene.

My friend Elvis also attended the party, I was even surprised to see him. I couldn’t believe that his boss was gonna let him come.

Anne was coming out of the dressing room, approaching the birthday scene.

She was really beautiful, glamourous and looked elegant on the dress I bought her.

I couldn’t even resist her beauty as she was still approaching the celebrant’s seat..

The occasion began and it was time for presentation. A lot of her well wishers were showering her with gift cards and presents.

This time around Anne seemed to be more happy than ever. She really appreciated my mom and her eyes were already brimming with tears.

It was now my turn to present my own token of the celebrant. I walked out majestically and stood right in front of her.

She was smiling and looking me directly in the eyes, I smiled back too.

“You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I really cherished your kind gesture for aways being there for me.

I have so many things to present this very moment as my heart still lingers around the circumference to do any of them. Let me start with this very one”, I said as I was about to kneel down.

“Don’t say no to my request baby. Will you marry me?”, I said poking out an engagement ring.

The whole crowd were murmuring that very moment, even my parents were surprised because I never told them that I was going to propose to her.

She was definitely shocked, and so couldn’t say anything. She stood for almost five minutes and then finally said,

“I will marry you”.

My happiness knew no bounds. I immediately slipped the ring into her finger and hugged her passionately.
