The next day, it all looked like I was in a new era. My parents and friends were all against me.

I knew very well that the engagement was definitely a surprise to each and every one of them.

Even Anne herself was surprised. It was written all over her facial expressions when I opened the ring box.

She became nervous and grew more fidgety. After giving her some time to decide, which she accepted.

My mother was the first person to greet me with a question from the previous night’s scenario.

I simpered.

I made a face.

“You must have gone nuts. Any ways I’m definitely not in the mood to banter words with you this morning”, she said.

Just as I was about to reply her, I heard the echo of Anne’s name down stairs, and I quickly rushed to go out downstairs, but I was hampered by my sister, she held on my t-shirt.

“Leave my clothe and let me go see my potential wife”, I said in a breathless voice.

“You are not going anywhere big brother. So my big brother has suddenly fallen more deeply in love after his girlfriend’s birthday huh?”, she remarked, still holding on to my clothes.

I sighed.
“I know you want me to disobey myself again, but I’m so sorry this time around, I can’t do that”, I said amusingly and as fast as lightening, yanked off her hand off my t-shirt and dashed out.

Surprisingly, she was fast enough and dashed out as well, then ran past me.

She quickly ran downstairs and hugged Anne who was sitting with my parents.

“Good morning my sister in-law”, she said amusingly as both of them broke into laughter including myself and my parents as well.

“Don’t mind my brother here. He is absolutely stubborn and troublesome. I heard your voice since when you came, but he hampered me from coming to say hi”, my sister said, flickering her eyelids at me. I was shocked, my mouth fell into an ‘o’.

“Are you serious? But I have never seen him exhibiting such character before”, Anne said defensively.

I sighed deeply, very happy to hear Anne’s response, at least my wife has defended my right.

I quickly turned to Juliana and noticed some frown on my sister’s facial expressions. She was actually raising a brow at me.

I was never expecting that a daughter of a lowest class citizen in America will be hosting such a birthday party. It’s not because of my prettiest look, but because of your personality.

My parents all send their greetings to you all and had already fix a date to come and appreciate you more once again”, she said with great submissiveness.

“No my daughter, you don’t have to do that. Here is your home and you definitely belong here”, Father replied.

“Yes my darling daughter. You are now part of this family. You can even stay here with us, if you wish to do so”, Mother chipped in .

“Yes Anne, infact you are staying with me today in this house. I really wanna enjoy your company and you enjoy mine too.

I couldn’t waited for her to conclude her speech. I unleashed another epic of laughter.

“She is actually joking darling . Don’t mind your sister. I can’t sit down and look at her maltreating my husband”, Anne whispered into my ear as Juliana left upstairs and beckoned on her to follow her up.

The security personnel came in shortly and told me Elvis was around to see me. I told him to let him in.

He showed up in the living room minutes later.

“Hi bro, what’s up?”, I said as he walked in.

“No prob gee. I just came to say that am so much happy for you bro. You really surprised me. All the same congratulations”, he said happily.

“Thanks alot. I’m so much grateful for your kind gesture. I wish you some days celebrated more than I do”, I responded.

“When will the celebration come brother? After all this while I’m still hiding my identity and yet nothing good is prevailing”, he said amusingly.

“Hey, don’t still forget that a massive reward is awaiting you when you will win this battle of love”, I said as he laughed at me.

We had fun and a great time and then later on, I saw him back halfway to his destination and returned back home.
