“Ouch!” Jane muttered in pain, as Lucas treated her injured knee.

“Sorry Jane” He said, blowing air in her knee.

“You shouldn’t have make jest of me, Lucas” She said, pouting.

“I was just joking. You were the one who took it serious” Lucas said, as he disinfect her wounds, and Jane winced, softly.

“You should be careful next time Jane. What if you have sustain an injury more deeper than that?” Roseline asked setting the table for dinner. Jane and Lucas were in the living room, so they had to go to the small dinning table to join Roseline.

Lucas helped Jane sit on the chair, and Roseline smiled, no doubt she likes Lucas very much, since he has always been there for Jane, come rain, come sun.

“What are we having for dinner?”

“It’s french fries and chicken with rice” Lucas answered as he poured some of it on the plate for her.

“Let me feed you, bestie” He said, shoving some rice in her mouth, and Jane munched on it.

“Thank you so much Lucas for always being there for my daughter. It’d have been hard for me if not for you” Roseline said.

“It’s nothing Aunt. Jane is my best friend and is my priority to look out for her” He said, feeding Jane.

“I don’t want your girlfriend to get mad at me because you are always with me” Jane said, and Lucas ruffled her hair.

“Lucas!”

“I have no time for dating Jane. I have big dreams for myself, so I don’t want to be distracted”

“So I am not a distraction to you?” Jane asked.

“No you are not, so keep quiet and eat your food” Lucas said, shoving a part of a chicken inside her mouth, and Roseline smiled.

They were still eating when Lucas got a call from his mom. He swollen the food in his mouth, before answering.

“Hello, Mom”

“Where are you Lucas?”

“I am at Jane’s. Is there a problem?” Lucas asked.

“I just got a call from the police station that your sister was brought there”

“Police station? Why?” Lucas asked, and Roseline looked at her, while Jane gave out a facial expression.

“She beat up some boys in her school. She can’t be arrested for it, since she’s just fourteen, the cops just wants to see her family, I can’t go to her because I stuck with my work. Can you please go to the police station on my behalf?”

“I will mom, just be careful at work, and don’t panicked, okay” Lucas said, and ended the call.

“Is everything ok? Who is in the police station?” Jane asked.

“It’s Grace. She got into a fight with some boys in her school. It’s nothing serious, the cops just want to see her family. I have to go now, Aunt, Jane” Lucas said, standing up.

“I will Aunt” Lucas pat Jane’s back and left the house.

“That Grace girl is always good at causing trouble for her family” Roseline said, hoping Jane will reply to her words, but Jane was smiling, because she was thinking about Adrian.

“Why are you smiling?” She asked, and Jane quickly stopped smiling.

“Of course there’s something that’s making you smile. Tell me about it Jane” Roseline said.

Jane took in her lips before talking. “What does it mean if you can’t stop thinking about someone?” She asked innocently.

“Don’t tell me you have a boyfriend, Jane?” Roseline asked with a serious tone.

“That’s how it start Jane. I know we’re in the twenty first century, but you are not allowed to have a boyfriend. You are just sixteen, and is not appropriate for you to have a boyfriend. Take Lucas for exam he doesn’t have a girlfriend because he is more focus on building his future”

“I don’t have a boyfriend mom. No one will love a blind girl like me” Jane said sadly.

Grace’s voice was heard loudly, as she argued with a cop.

Those impotent fools were trying to rape a classmate of mine, do you think I will just sit and watch or better still take a photo of it?” Grace asked.

“I am sorry okay, but I can’t stand people. Everywhere I go people always annoy me, especially those stupid students in my school”

“I know why you are like this, so I am banding you from watching those actions movies you are into”

People could be seen striding inside the grand hall, and these people weren’t ordinary people. They were people of class and also town owners too.

Adrian kept his eyes fixed on the entrance door, hoping Jane will show up. He has talked to Lucas two days before the welcome back party, and Lucas promised to bring Jane to the party. Adrian couldn’t wait to see her again, because he hasn’t stopped thinking about her since the day he met and save her life.

“Are you waiting for someone?” Debra asked, approaching him. No doubt she was dressed beautifully in her black shinning slit gown. She’s indeed beautiful, but her beauty isn’t compared to that of Jane’s.

“Why are you here Debra?” Adrian asked.

“Do you possibly think I’d miss out in your welcome back party?” She asked.

“Whatever Debra. Just leave me alone”

“Fine I will, but after today I am going to have you all to myself”

“What the heck are you saying?” Adrian asked.

“You will see” Debra said with a smile. She tapped his shoulder before joining her group of friends.

“Why is she not coming? The party is going to start soon” Adrian muttered, licking his lower lip.

≤ JANE’S HOUSE ≥

“You both are going for night lessons?” Roseline asked.

“Yes Aunt” Lucas answered, smiling.

“But why don’t you just read here at home? It’s late and you know I can’t allow Jane go out at night”

“I know that Aunt, but I am with Jane, which means she’s in save hands. They’re some books I need to read out to Jane, but it’s only available in the school’s library. Don’t worry Aunt, Jane and I will come back before you know it”

Few minutes later, both came out from the boutique. Jane was wearing a skyblue flowered gown, and black ankle strap heels. Her hair was packed in a ponytail, and she was looking extremely beautiful. Lucas was also looking handsome in the black suit he was wearing.

“You are so beautiful, Jane”

“Thanks Lucas. You must have spent a lot for this. I can’t see it, but I can tell it’s expensive” Jane said.

“It’s fine Jane. I just want my best friend to look beautiful for her crush” Lucas said, and Jane smiled.

“Shall we?” He asked, and Jane nod her head.

The party was about to begin, when Lucas and Jane entered the grand hall, and Adrian smiled when he saw her.

“I knew it Jane. Adrian is indeed from a rich family. This hall is no doubt decorated with millions of dollars”

“Really?” Jane said.

“Yes. It’s so beautiful” Lucas answered helping Jane to sit down, and he sat beside her.

“Where is Adrian?” Jane asked.

“He is over there sitting with….. ” Lucas stopped and gasped.

“What’s wrong Lucas?”

“I think Adrian is the son of Rebecca MCBroom, owner of Dashie Town” Lucas said.

“Really?”

“She’s going up on stage” Lucas as he watch Rebecca walk majestically to the stage, and Jane wished she could see what was going on.

“A pleasant greetings to everyone who left their busy schedule to attend this party. As the owner of Dashie town, it’s so exciting to see that everyone is doing well” Rebecca said, and Lucas scoffed.

“She is just putting an act. The poor knows how wickid she is. She only cares about the rich” Lucas said, and Jane looked sideways, not knowing Rebecca was standing at the front. Being blind wasn’t something to be proud of.

“My son Adrian McBroom haven’t been in this town for more than six years because he was schooling in Hong Kong. He is through with his highschool degree, and he is finally back to me” Rebecca said smiling.

Meanwhile Adrian was looking at Jane from where she was sitting, with a smile on his face. Debra was too focused in uploading her latest pictures on Instagram to notice it.

“Adrian, my life” Rebecca said, and Adrian diverted his gaze from Jane to look at his mom.

“It’s so glad to have you back home. Come up on stage let’s give you a warm welcome” Rebecca said, smiling.

Adrian stood up and walked to the stage. The clapping from the audience brought Debra back. She dropped her phone getting ready for the engagement announcement.

Jane was also clapping and smiling. Although she couldn’t see Adrian right now, but her imagination tells her that Adrian was looking so handsome, which was indeed true.

“Good evening everyone” He said, and Jane smiled, recognizing his voice.

“Thank you all for honouring me, and I’m so happy to be back home, thanks to it, I met someone especial” Adrian said, looking at Jane.

“Jane, I think he is talking about you” Lucas said, smiling.

“Really?”

“Yes. He is even looking at you. He just can’t resist your beauty. Dolling you up was a great idea” Lucas said, and Jane smiled.

“It’s wonderful to be back home. So enjoy the party while it still lasts” Adrian said, and everyone clapped their hands. Debra was also clapping, admiring Adrian’s good look.

“Adrian is so handsome Jane. You’d fall in love with him more if you get to see his face” Lucas said, and Jane wished she could see his face.

Adrian was about coming down on stage, when Rebecca held his hand, and he wondered why, because he wanted to go to Jane.

“What’s wrong Mom?” He asked, and Rebecca smile.

“I also have a especial announcement to make. Debra Boone, please come up on stage” Rebecca said, and Debra walked elegantly to the stage.

“Who is that Lucas?” Jane asked.

“I don’t know Jane” Lucas said looking at Debra.

Adrian tries his best to put up a smile as Debra came up on stage. “This is Debra Boone. You all may not know her, but she’s a teen model with the dream of having a Model/Fashion industry”

“Why on earth does she have the same dream like you?” Lucas asked with a frown but Jane kept quiet.

“I know they’re too young to be in a relationship, but sometimes we don’t have to be an hindrance. Young love is the sweetest thing ever”

“What’s she saying, Lucas. I don’t understand” Jane said, sadly.

“I don’t know either” Lucas said, confusedly. Adrian was also confused because he clearly told his mom about his breakup with Debra.

“Mom what are you saying?” He asked.

“In two days time, Adrian and Debra will be engaged” Rebecca announced. Jane and Lucas’s eyes widen at the same time, Debra had a smile on her face, while anger was boiling inside Adrian.

“Mom what stupid engagement are you talking?” Adrian asked and people began to murmur.

“I know you still love Debra, that’s why I am doing this. You and Debra are getting engaged and that’s final!” Rebecca said.

“You can’t make decisions for me Mom. I might be seventeen, but that doesn’t mean you can choose who and who I shouldn’t be with. How many times am I going to tell you that I don’t love Debra anymore?” Adrian said.

“What do you know about love? You absolutely don’t know anything about love!”

“I do mom” Adrian said. He came down from the stage, and went straight to where Jane was sitting.

“Can I borrow her for a while?” He asked Lucas.

“She’s all yours” Lucas said with a smile.

Adrian took Jane’s hand and Jane wondered where they were going. “Where are we going?” Jane asked, looking around, even if she couldn’t see.

“Who the heck is she?” Rebecca asked, looking at Jane irritatingly.

“She’s the girl I love, Mom” Adrian said without blinking, holding Jane’s hard tightly.

“Adrian and Jane are getting engaged tomorrow!” Lucas said in a loud voice, clapping his hands.
