???? Cacophonous Melody Episode Thirty Seven: ????
When Samantha slipped suddenly and fell down, Patricia didn’t think about her anything else as she descended on her, raining blows on Samantha, who was now lying motionless on the floor.
“What have you done? Patricia, what have you done to her now?” Drake screamed at Patricia, pulling her so viölently that Patricia fell on the other side of the room.
Patricia was initially shocked to see how Drake reacted after being caught pants down with Samantha, but she was deåd scared to see Drake get so physical with her, because of Samantha.
She got up from the part of the room she had fallen and watched in awe as Drake bent over Samantha to resuscitate her, acting like he didn’t have an idea that she was looking at him act all loved up with Samantha.
“Are you okay? Sam please talk to me. Are you alright?” Drake asked her, pulling her up to a sitting position. He was brushing her hair off her face tenderly, and looking at her face with so much concern
Samantha opened her eyes and began to cry teying to perfect the act, and make it a ok like she truly passed out after the attàck.
“Will please speak up Samantha? Are you hurt anywhere?” Drake asked her with so much concern that Patricia’s hurt made her become immobile; with her legs seeming to have been glued to the ground where she stood.
She had been suspecting that something wasn’t right about the way Drake had been acting in recent times, but never had she imagined that she’d find him acting with so much impunity right before her eyes, after being caught with Samantha of all people.
“Drake, a few days to our wedding, I walk in on you making love to this abandoned hàrlot, and you’re acting with this level of nonchàlance right under my watch?
“Have you been bewitched, or you have simply lost your senses?” Patricia asked, unable to get out of the house, just like her brain had been telling her to do from the moment he started talking to her rudély, after being caught pants down.
“I haven’t been bewitched Patricia, I am just getting to know your true nature, and honestly, I can’t believe how well you have been able to hide your true character, all these while” Drake said àngrily, looking at Patricia in a whole new light.
If Patricia was surprised at how he was acting towards her, just because of another woman, he was more shocked himself.
For some time, Drake had been battling with his subconsciousness that had been convincing him that he was in love with Samantha.
He had tried to ward it off, imagining that he was just feeling the way he was feeling because she was new to his bed, but after watching her slip and fall, when Patricia pushed her, and noticed how vulnerable she had been; needing his care to resuscitate her, he was getting convinced that he felt something deeper for Samantha than for the woman he was about to marry.
Patricia blinked back the tears that were fighting so hard to fall out of her eyes, but she knew that it was time to step out of the house, or she’d be crying right in front of the shameless girl that had made herself an object of disturbance to their wedding plans.
Samantha leaned on Drake, and was sticking out her tongue in pure mischief, trying to get Patricia to react again.
Patricia wiped the single tear that escaped her eyelids when she wasn’t paying attention, and walked past the two shãmeless people on her way out of the house.
The tears began to fall unrestrainedly as soon as she walked out of the room, and she hurried out of the house, got into her car and sat there to cry her eyes out before she was able to drive.
Cynthia was the first to know about Patricia’s predicament, and just like Patricia had already told Drake she’d do, she suggested that Patricia called off the wedding.
“I don’t know how you see this Pat, but I think it’s God working for you.
“Yes, God loves you so much that he made you have to privilege of finding out before you walked down the aisle with that rat àss.
“I have seen and heard of men cheating on their woman, but for Drake to cheat with Samantha, Bruce’s ex girlfriend, and still have the nerves to speak with his head up, then something is wrong somewhere.
“And that my dear, is the reason we should be celebrating now.” Cynthia told Patricia.
“You are right Cynthia, but what am I going to do now? Our wedding is supposed to be in a few days time.
“We have already sent out the invitations, and even the event planners have been fully paid. My wedding gown was brought home two days ago.
“How will I be able to withstand the shame of a wedding that didn’t hold again?” Patricia asked, crying like a baby.
“I know you must be feeling so bad, and I can already imagine how deeply hurt you must be now, but the truth is, no matter how bad a broken engagement is, it is way better than a divorce.
“Move on girlfriend. Forget about him, and watch how God brings you some one deserving” Cynthia consoled her friend.
“You are absolutely right girlfriend, but you know that it is easier said than done.
“How am I supposed to move on when the hurt of what happened, and how it happened is still so unable to leave me?
“Breaking this engagement with the only man I have ever loved, when our wedding is just a few days away is painful, but leaving him because of someone as dêspicable as Samantha is the more kïlling of all!
“How can it be that someone of her kind was able to take my man, right out of my hands, and at a time like this!
“How am I going to face my mum? The Christian mothers have already been invited officially to the wedding” Patricia analyzed, weeping profusely.
“Come on Patricia! Are you trying to tell me that you will be unwilling to move to the next class because you’re concerned about someone less deserving occupying a class that you have outgrown?
“You will certainly look back at this decision, and be thankful that you ignored the shame and discomfort this decision will cause, and took the right step.
“Drake is a no good for you. If he could cheat so carelessly, and still had the effrontery to challenge and accuse you the way he did, just a few days to your wedding, you’ll be sitting on a rollercoaster if you blindly go into this marriage” Cynthia advised her, and was so sure that Patricia had taken her advice, before she left her house.
However, while Patricia was driving home, she was contemplating on the choices she had, and several thoughts began to run through her mind.
She recalled that he had said something about her refusal to allow him touch her, being the reason he fell into the pool of Samantha’s seductîon
“What if this is just one of those temptations they say people encounter just before their wedding?
“What if the only reason my man is getting taken away by a woman like me is because she allows him have his way with her?
“Would it be wise that I allowed someone like Samantha be the reason my wedding is called off, when I know that Drake loves me with all his heart?” Patricia thought as she kept tapping on the steering wheel, while she drove.
Patricia was almost at her house, when she decided to return to Drake’s apartment that day.
“I have to fìght for what’s rightfully mine. No matter what I have to do, I can’t let Samantha have the last laugh” she told herself as she walked into his apartment.
Drake was surprised to see that she was back, when he was worried about how he was going to face the shame of having a wedding called off.
He was flabbergasted to see that after she stood for some seconds looking at him, almost as if she was making a decision, she walked up to him and began to kiss him.
Drake was still trying to process what was going on when he realized that she was unbuttoning her blouse while she kissed him.
It took only a few seconds for his body to decode the signals the impulses from her touches sent to his brain, and before long, his aröusal was visible, even to the blind.
“Patricia?” he called her, raising his eyebrows in confusion when she began to help him out of his clothes.
Drake tried to stop her, he tried to make her slow down to enable them talk, but Patricia had somehow made up her mind to act the báddie, with the hopes that it would be enough to get her man back from Samantha.
