She looked at the face of the person before her and you wouldn’t believe who it was. The person was in a pyjamas and was among those crying, feigning concern about the security of the neighbourhood.
“You fox!” Aliyah said to herself.
“So it has been you all along,” she said shaking her head in disbelief.
“I will make sure you die an agonizing death.”
Filled with rage and the burning desire for revenge, Aliyah hastily walked back to her house.
She kept muttering inaudible words borne out of fury and despair.
As she stormed into the house, her husband was the first person she met.
“Honey, what is going on outside?” He asked, taking a sip out of the cup of tea in his hand.
Aliyah paced up and down the sitting room, while her husband stared at her perplexed.
“Is anything the matter?” He asked.
There was no response, she kept parading the room.
“Honey, I need you to calm down and tell me what is going on. Okay?”
He placed his hand on her shoulder and said softly, “take a deep breath.”
Aliyah gave a big sigh.
“Fine, now tell me. What’s bothering you?”
“They found body parts, that’s why people are gathered outside.”
“Jesus!” Desmond exclaimed.
“Another dead body?”
“Not a dead body, this time around it was different body parts.”
“Oh my goodness! Ahh! That means we are no longer safe in this environment.” Desmond said looking very panicked.
“That’s not even the main reason why I am tensed,” Aliyah said.
“Why then are you tensed?” Desmond was confused at her statement, he was eager to hear more.
“I think I know who is responsible for this,” Aliyah muttered.
“Who?” Desmond asked with so much curiosity.
“I saw…”
Her mother in law immediately barged in.
“Where is my food? Son can you see how your wife has kept me hungry till this time?”
“Mama food is ready, you’re the one who didn’t come out to eat.”
“But your wife didn’t let me know that the food is ready.”
“Mama please I beg you, we are discussing something very important. Let us be.”
“Desmond!” She exclaimed, standing with her legs akimbo.
“So who will now dish the food for me to eat?”
“Mama food is in the pot, go there and dish for yourself.”
Desmond’s mum was irritated at the guts with which her son talked to her, she refused to eat, instead she turned on the television and sank into the sofa.
“Honey what were you saying? What did you see?”
“I can’t say it here,” Aliyah whispered.
“Why? Just go on and…”
“Honey I can’t say it here, let’s go inside,” she said softly.
As they entered the bedroom, Desmond was now more curious than ever.
“So go on…” He said.
“Earlier this morning…” Aliyah began.
“I saw someone through the kitchen window, carrying a heavy sack. I don’t know what pushed me but I followed. I saw where the person poured out the content of the bag but I never saw what was inside.”
“So?” Desmond asked, his hands were folded and he stared at her with towering curiosity.
“I… I ran back to the house. But this morning I discovered that the body parts were found exactly where the person poured out everything.”
“Oh my goodness!” Desmond exclaimed with his eyes bulging out.
“Did you see the person? Or do you have any idea what he looked like?”
“I saw the person in the same clothes this morning.”
“So? Who is it? Who is that bastard?”
“It’s a she actually…”
“Who?”
“Our new neighbour… Linda.”
“What!? How? My goodness! I can’t believe this. You know what… let’s call the police ASAP.”
“No, the police are ineffective and… I don’t trust them.”
“So what do you want us to do? You want such evil person to keep doing this nonsense? Huh?”
“I’m not totally sure she is the one, but I’ll find out tonight.”
“How? You better don’t do anything stupid.”
“Don’t bother yourself, I’ll be fine.”
Aliyah waited patiently till it was 6:30 pm, even though Linda had barely lived there up to a month, it was enough time for Aliyah to know that Linda always went out every evening before 6:30.
She watched quietly from a distance, and as soon as she saw Linda walk out her house, she became alert.
She watched closely till she saw that Linda was out of sight. Speedily, Aliyah ran down to Linda’s house. Her earnest prayer was to find Linda’s spare key.
Almost everyone in the neighbourhood had one and most of them hide theirs under the doormat, or inside the flower vases by their doors.
Aliyah looked around and no one seemed nearby, she reached into the flower vase and luckily her hand grabbed a key.
Unbelievable!
God was on her side.
She slipped it into the keyhole and as she turned it the door opened before her.
Slowly, she walked in.
Linda’s apartment was beautiful and well furnished, but Aliyah couldn’t ignore how almost everything was painted red.
Not a good sign.
She looked around, she couldn’t believe that she was really inside Linda’s house; the supposed murderer.
She noticed a passage and she slowly walked down.
She saw two doors, she opened the first; it was Linda’s bedroom. She shut the door and walked down to the second door.
At a point she wondered what gave her such guts.
As she slowly pushed open the door knob, adrenaline rushed down her system. She could feel goosebumps on her skin and her heart beat loudly like a talking drum.
The door opened before her and her jaw dropped open. She saw different sizes of knifes and machetes hung on the wall, a butcher block and three big refrigerators.
She ran to the first and immediately opened it. She froze, she couldn’t believe it; it was filled with human heads.
“Jesus!” She screamed.
She opened the second refrigerator, and she was rendered speechless. It was filled with hands and legs.
She taught it was over until she opened the third refrigerator, her pupils dilated.
Behold it was filled with female private parts.
Fear seized her, she could feel her heart in her throat.
She had to leave, immediately!
Just then, she heard a sound outside. A loud thud on the door.
Oh no! The devil is at the door!
