????(His Sweet Torture)????
BRIARWOOD SCHOOL**
Isabella had just finished arranging her books in her locker when she turned around, only to find herself face-to-face with Elijah.
“Isabella, I need to talk to you,” Elijah said, his eyes filled with remorse.
She rolled her eyes, attempting to walk past him, but he blocked her path.
“I know I was a jerk, but I really need to talk to you. Please,” he pleaded, grabbing both her hands. “I miss you… I miss us,” he added hopefully.
“Us?” Isabella raised an eyebrow. “Was there ever an ‘us’?”
“I know I messed things up, butβ”
“You’re with Valeria now, and I’m with your buddy, Ace. Do you even have common sense?” Isabellaβs tone sharpened, her irritation growing.
“Iβ”
“If Ace finds out about this, heβll never forgive you. Honestly, I didnβt expect this from you, Elijah. Thank God nothing happened between us.” She shook her head, walking away. Before leaving completely, she turned back to give him one last incredulous look.
Elijah rolled his eyes and began to leave when someone suddenly grabbed his hand, pulling him toward the men’s restroom.
“What was that earlier? What were you thinking?” Brett demanded, his voice low but firm.
Elijah smiled. “So, this is how I get your attention.”
“You’re sick,” Brett growled between gritted teeth.
“Brett, youβre not like this. Youβre confused because you’ve been spending too much time with her. You’re not straightβyouβre gay, and you belong with me,” Elijah said as he moved closer to Brett, attempting to kiss him. Brett slapped him hard across the face.
Elijah smirked, stepping back. “Iβd rather die than watch you be with that girl. Mark my wordsβshe was into me back then, and I can make her fall for me again. Sheβll never look at you.”
“You canβt have what you already lost,” Brett muttered.
“And you canβt win what you never had,” Elijah shot back, moving closer again. “Are you falling for Isabella? How about I tell her about us? Isnβt that what you’ve always wanted?” He cupped Brettβs face, his voice filled with persuasion.
Brett shook his head, seeing Elijahβs eyes well up with tears.
“Please, Brett, donβt fall for her. I still love you… so much,” Elijah began pleading, tears streaming down his face.
“Iβm sorry,” Brett whispered, a tear escaping from his own eye. “I donβt know how it happened.”
“Is it because I hid us for so long? To hell with my cyber status and everyone I know. We can tell the world about us. Just… please, donβt fall for Isabella. Letβs be together and flaunt it to the whole world. Please, just see me again,” Elijah begged, his voice breaking.
“Iβm sorry,” was all Brett could say.
“Donβt apologize to me, Goddamnit! We both agreed to hide this. Your momβs against it, and you couldnβt stand to disappoint her. My dadβs obsessed with me getting married one day, and I have a legion of female fans I couldnβt let down. So donβt you dare say it was just me hiding us!” Elijah kicked the wall angrily.
“But I told youβlet’s tell the world. You were the coward, werenβt you?” Brett yelled.
“And then you fell in love with Isabella. Well, congratulations, Brett. Youβve made your mom happy. You abandoned us,” Elijah lamented, covering his face with his hands before falling silent.
After a few minutes, Elijah looked up, his face hardened. “Now Iβm sorry for who Iβll become. Isabella will be mine. Iβll make sure you never have her,” he said coldly before storming out of the restroom.
“Not on my watch,” Brett muttered after him.

LUCIA’S PLACE**
Lucia was deeply engrossed in her laptop when the doorbell rang, interrupting her concentration. With a sigh, she got up, glanced through the peephole, and opened the door for Camila.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” Camila asked apologetically.
Lucia rolled her eyes. “Why would I still be asleep at this time?” She returned to her chair and resumed typing on her laptop.
“Your brother says youβre lazy. He claims you work online but mostly sleep,” Camila teased, taking a seat next to her.
“Screw him.” Lucia scoffed and spun her laptop toward Camila. “Look at this guy. Doesnβt he look like the guy from the mall yesterday? The one who refused my help?”
“Oh my God, Lucia! You talked about him all day yesterday, and now youβre stalking him? How did you even find his social media?” Camila looked astonished.
“I have my ways,” Lucia said smugly, flicking her hair. “He embarrassed me yesterday, but heβs got a cute nameβGorge Williams.”
“He didnβt embarrass you. He just said he didnβt like favors and paid you back,” Camila corrected, rolling her eyes.
“Yes, he did! How dare he refuseβ” Lucia suddenly stopped mid-sentence and leaned closer to Camila, narrowing her eyes. “Wait, whatβs that on your neck?”
“What are you talking about?” Camila blinked, confused.
Lucia moved closer. “It looks like a vampire bite. What happened?”
Camila shifted uncomfortably. “Nothing happened.”
“Oh my God! You and Alejandro did it, didnβt you?” Lucia gasped dramatically.
“What? No!” Camila protested.
“You had sex! He gave you a bunch of hickeys. It must have been intense,” Lucia teased, grinning.
Camila quickly stood up and checked her reflection in the mirror. Lucia was rightβAlejandro had left marks all over her neck, and she hadnβt even noticed.
“Oh no! How am I supposed to go out or face my mom like this?” Camila worried.
“Relax, itβs cute. Heβs basically telling the world, βSheβs mine,β” Lucia chuckled.
“It’s not funny, Lucia. This is horrible,” Camila said with a faint smile. “I can’t work with bites on my neck.”
“They’re love bites,” Lucia groaned. “He marked you because he loves you. Men only do that to women they truly care about.”
Camila stared at Lucia, speechless. “Love?” she repeated. Alejandro could never love her. They hadn’t married for love, and the thought troubled her. What if this was all part of his revenge? A cruel way to make her feel something, only to remind her of what she did years ago.
Her chest tightened at the thought. “I don’t think it’s love. We just had sex, that’s all,” she mumbled.
“Keep lying to yourself. Youβre both in love with each other, but neither of you wants to admit it. Are you seriously trying to tell me that after all this time with Alejandro, you donβt feel anything for him?” Lucia moved closer, eyeing her curiously.
Camila blinked. “Weβve just grown closer, thatβs all.”
“Fine,” Lucia said, folding her arms. “Tell me what happened after last night.”
“He went for a morning run, and I woke up late. He wrote me a letter asking me to meet him downstairs, and,” she smiled at the memory, “he tried to cook pancakes. They were terrible, and he almost beat himself up over it for not getting it right.”
“Alejandro in the kitchen? Camila, listen, before you, he didnβt care about women after they woke up. They left, and that was it. He never made an effort, let alone cooked and wrote letters. The man is so into you, and nothing you say will convince me otherwise,” Lucia declared confidently.
Camila hesitated, the mention of his past girlfriends making her uneasy. “So, he’s dated other girls?” she asked slowly.
“He was just like my brother Chandler. Theyβd change women every now and then. None of us thought he’d ever get married. Thatβs something he really resented,” Lucia chuckled, walking over to the coffee maker.
“Donβt feel bad. Those girls were in the past. Sure, some of them might still be a little hung up on him, but he doesnβt look at anyone the way he looks at you,” Lucia added, sipping her coffee.
“I donβt feel bad,” Camila scoffed, trying to dismiss the pang in her chest.
