I stood up from where I was seated full of shame.The look that everyone was staring at me made me feel embarrassed.I shifted my gaze and saw the lecturer being escorted to a black SUV with friends and relatives singing and praising the Lord.

We stood with Lawyer Macky discussing what was the next move.Dalia was around too except the other friends,for sure no one wanted to be around me anymore,I was a disgrace.

The Lawyer had put everything into the case but my fate had already been decided.We stood hopeless.I could see students and lecturers discussing outside court premises,they were obviously discussing about me and how I had tried to seduce the lecturer and turn things against him.

We then walked out of the court our head bent downwards.The huge crowd that was out stared at us and specifically me,for the first time in my life I felt how it felt to be ashamed.It was embarrassing.Some of the students started shouting “ traitor! traitor!”

At the Lecturers home in Syokimau,there were dances and gospel songs that rented the air.The women had prepared delicacies to welcome their son back home who had been detained for almost a month and was now released after the court failed to prove that he was guilty.

The black SUV that had taken him from the court was ushered into the compound with ululations and cheers the women singing together.

He gave the MC the microphone and walked into the house to have lunch.His children and wife were very happy to see him.The wife tells him that she is glad that he is back and he is innocent.

Seated at the bed I kept shedding tears for almost half an hour until I felt headache.That night Dalia had prepared supper but I didn’t want to eat at all.In fact I just wished she would have left so that I could comit suicide but that thought ran of my mind,suicidal thoughts wasn’t an option at all,I was a Christian and I had to believe in God.

“ Cate you should get up from the bed and come have your supper it is getting cold” Dalia had said,“ I get it,it is painful and shameful to be embarrassed infront of the all school but life must go on dear,one day justice will prevail and everyone would be sorry for how they treated you” she added.

It is then that I got out of the bed and forced myself to eat even though the food felt tasteless to me.As I was eating my phone notification dinged and on checking I realized it was the disciplinary committee,I was supposed to meet them in two days, immediately I lost my appetite.
