???? My Stay In India CHAPTER TWO: ????
I arrived at Indira Gandhi international airport but I don’t know the city I was in. The airport was fascinating it was magnificent if I am to empty my bowls of adoration about the place I swear it will fill twenty leaves (book). I couldn’t stop gazing at the beauty of the place, the stairs I climbs rolled down on its own it was wow, it was as if I was in heaven while on earth.
I walked majestically to the exit point of the airport as directed by someone. The atmosphere was hot although but I am used to it in my house in Nigeria. I expected to see the people that were supposed to pick me up from the airport standing right before me but I saw nobody, while I was there complaining a hand touched me from behind, it was as if an angel has touched me, I quickly turned to see who was that angel.
When I turned I saw a beautiful damsel standing right before me wearing a sari worn with a long skirt and a dupatta scarf that makes her more beautiful.
βnamasteβ she greeted with her hands placed on each other as if she wants to say some prayers
βwho are you?β I asked
βmy name is Ami, and you what’s your name?β she asked.
βMime name is Raymond, but you can call me Rayβ I said looking at her beautiful body.
β are you he one that came from Nigeria?β she asked.
βyes I amβ i replied.
β I recognized you because of your colour,I tried reaching out to you by calling you but you were lost in your own worldβ she said.
β am sorry I wasn’t in the right frame of mindβ I said trying to polish my ego.
βOkay i, I heard your history how you defended your results it is wow to me and I promise myself that I will be your best friend I love brilliant peopleβ she said
βis like this girl no know meoooβ I said to myself silently.
βWhat did you say?β she asked
βnothing can we get going please am exhausted and if you keep bombarding me with questions again I will faint please let’s get goingβ I pleaded.
βokayβ she replied.
She carried my box because it was too bulky for me although I appreciated by saying βthank youβ which make her to smile at me.
We stopped a taxi and headed of to her house were I will be staying till I finish my school I believe My Stay In India will be a beautiful and an adventurous life which will be so remarkable to me and I will use it to tell my children when they are born.
My first conversation with Ami went well and I hope it will go well like that with the others so I prayed in my mind. All through out the driving Ami was just staring at me but I never minded even though she is beautiful what I came to do is to study and I must accomplish it.
My grandfather said βno matter the obstacles if you say you will make it you will, it takes passion and determination because definitely there will be obstacles like girls not only girls but beautiful ones, money, friends etc in all this you can still do what you want to doβ. He sad this because of the war he fought in the Biafra war.
He once sat me down and told me that if I want to succeed in my tender age I should never sleep with any girl until I marry, I should focus not esteem money more than my own book. His advice has kept me going.
Finally I arrived Ami’s house it was so beautiful I haven’t seen a house as beautiful as this in my entire life. I don’t know where to start from describing the beauty of the house. I sought for words but I found non coming out.
βcome in this is new Delhiβ Ami said
At first i lingered because the house was too good.
But at the end i followed Ami into the house, the inside was more beautiful than the outside, everyone came and greeted me, the children bowed and touched my feet which I didn’t find funny at all.
β this Is a show of respectβ Ami whispered into my ears.
βNamasteβ all the elders greeted with there hands place on the order as if they want to conduct a pray, ignorant me I did the same as well. To show my own respect I touched all the elderly people’s feet except the children. All the the young ladies wears exactly what Ami wore but the oldest ones which I think they are married wore saris worn with choli but his time it was not with the scarf but they held there material as if it was too much.
There dressing exposed their waist. The elderly men wore theirs while the young men do the same. Seeing them you will know they are replicate of Hinduism and are very Dedicated to their tradition. They have an idol on the left side of the house. The thing that baffled me most is how can up to 17 people be leaving in the same house and Ami even told me that her father Was not yet back from work even her two brothers. So they are 20 people leaving under one roof. To see different characters this will be really troublesome.
βAmi show him to his room let him go and freshing up as time goes on he will know our names one by one a man said.
Who is that man? I asked Ami.
He is the eldest in the family Ami replied.
Ami took me to my room, before leaving he make sure my clothes were properly kept in the empty wardrobe.
My room was as the size of a self-contain or even bigger than it
After freshing up I came down to eat because I was famish. I was expecting egusi soup, but the food served was another thing all together, mare seeing the food I was okay by force.
I have to stay hungry pretending to be filled the rest of the day. This one no go easy at all we don’t worship the same God and we don’t eat the same food I wasn’t prepared for this at all so I murmured to myself.
