The next night, the attacks worsened. Lilian complained to me that someone who had taken my form tried to sleep with her in her dream. She was however, able to fight off the person. It had been a week now and we had not had any trouble from Ariel. We were beginning to feel that she had given up. Little did we know that she had changed strategy instead. One day, I slept without praying and that was the night she struck. She came to my dream and offered me my favourite food. I couldn’t resist and I happily ate the food. From that night, everything changed. I started seeing Ariel as Lilian and vice versa.

I woke up that morning and told Lilian to leave my house. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“Please leave and never come back.” I told her, rudely.

“Jim please, I don’t think you are the one talking. There is something wrong. Let’s talk about this.” She begged.

“There is nothing to talk about.” I barked. “You have brought me nothing but trouble all this while. You have to go now. I want to have my peace.”

“I am going nowhere.” She said. “This is my home. I belong here. We belong to each other.”

“I don’t know you. As far as I am concerned, you are on your own.” I said, walking away. “Better leave Lilian. If you stay here, I am going to harm you. I have already warned you. If anything happens to you, I won’t be responsible; I have told you.”

Lilian was crying now desperately. She went into the bedroom and started parking her stuffs. She was convinced that I had somehow been bewitched. However, she had to leave and fortify herself before coming back. A few hours after she left, Ariel showed up and I was very happy to see her.

“Around Jim, you abandoned me.” She said.

“Don’t worry, my daughter.” She told Lilian. “I will get rid of this demon once and for all and your man will come back to you.”

“How do you intend to do that, mum. She’s diabolical. In fact, I had thought she was the advocate of the devil. Now, I have come to realize she is the devil itself.” Lilian was scared for her mum’s safety.

“There is something I never told you. Before I was born, my mum had three girls already. Her husband was so furious that she had not been able to give him a male child. In her desperation, my mum, under the influence of her own mum, visited a native doctor who assured her that her next child would be a boy. She was pregnant for me at the time.

Unfortunately for her, when she gave birth, it was still another female. It was me. I was the child promised to her by the native doctor. The only difference is that I came as a female. So, never underestimate me, my daughter. I will deal with that demon who has taken your husband from you.”
