SEASON 1:
PRESENT
Chinyere led Rita to Christ after her narration and was happy Rita didn’t argue. Amidst heavy sobs, Rita accepted Christ and decided to start living for Him. She renounced the kingdom of darkness and embraced all that Christ has to offer. It was such a joyous moment, Donald was super proud of his wife. He looked at her and was grateful to God that he didn’t lose such a wonderful woman to his reckless living. There, he promised to love and cherish her more than ever before.
Chinyere: So, Rita, you will need to correct your errors. For those families you still have contact with, you will either call or go to them to apologize while for those you can’t reach, you will pray for them. This is to hinder the devil from accusing you. If there is any you need to visit, I will be glad to go with you.
Rita: Can I call you mummy?
Chinyere: oh my dear, please do, it’s a great privilege.
Rita: thank you very much, mummy. I am indebted to you.
Chinyere: you are not indebted to me, please. We are all indebted to God.
Rita: I love your humility ma. Despite being one of the richest women in Nigeria, you are humble to a fault. God bless you ma.
Since it was late, Rita was allowed to sleep in the guest room after being served a delicious meal which Madam Chinyere brought out from her freezer and quickly microwaved for everyone to eat since they were all famished. Olayinka was stunned by all she heard, she had always admired Madam Chinyere, but she never knew her husband’s boss had experienced her share of life troubles. Even though she couldn’t say much, she forgave Rita in her heart and was determined to make her marriage work by putting all she learned that night into practice.
Chinwe was working on the system in her room when a message dropped on her phone. Since it was a day off, she decided to stay indoors to get enough rest and do her assignment. On getting to Canada, she got a well-paid job and got herself enrolled in a college for a Master’s degree. Chinwe stopped what she was doing and checked her phone to discover it was a WhatsApp notification. She opened it and saw that it was a WhatsApp message from a Nigerian number.
She read the message and was shocked at what she saw, it was a message from Rita. She read it over and over again and didn’t know when tears started falling from her face.
“Hello, ma,
This is Rita,
I am sorry for being a tool that the devil used in destroying your marriage. Forgive me for manipulating you against your husband. I will be so happy if you can work out things with your husband. I have met Christ and have been delivered. I will not stop praying for you ma.
Thank you, ma.
Chinwe read the message over and over again and after reading, it was as if a scale fell from her face. She was surprised to see herself in Canada, she tried to call her husband but his number was no longer on her phone, she tried to remember it but couldn’t. As she was trying hard to remember Ben’s number, a call came into her phone, the caller goes by the name Charles.
Chinwe: Hello, please, who is this?
Charles: What’s wrong, babe? Why that question? Have you suddenly forgotten your lover?
Chinwe: lover? The only lover I have is my husband, Ben. I am a married woman, please, stop calling me.
Before Charles could reply, Chinwe ended the call and began to ask God for mercy. She was confused and needed the Holy Spirit to open her eyes to what she needed to know, all she knew was that she read a message, and her reasoning returned. While on her knees, her mother’s call came into her phone.
Mrs. Amadi: what nonsense stunt are you trying to pull, daughter?
Chinwe: I don’t understand you, Mom.
Mrs. Amadi: what did you tell Charles? Look here girl, you can never break up with him. He is coming with his people this weekend to pay your bride price so, get your things and start coming home.
Chinwe: Listen, Mom, I don’t know any Charles. Ben is the love of my life and nothing can change that, not even you.
Mrs. Amadi: I swear, I will kill Ben if you ever go back to him.
Chinwe: then, be prepared to kill both of us.
