???? The Hunter Season One Episode Seventeen:
SEASON 1:
Madam Chinyere was having an international call with her children when her second phone began to ring, she peeped at her phone and saw that Rita was the caller. At first, she wanted to ignore the mind of calling later but Rita’s persistence made her change her mind. She quickly rounded up her discussion with her children and attended to Rita’s call. It turned out that Rita who needed to see her urgently wanted to confirm if she was at home. Madam Chinyere told her to come since she was in the house.
Rita came into Madam Chinyere’s house forty-five minutes later looking distressed. She was so unhappy that she even refused the refreshment Madam Chinyere offered her.
Chinyere: what’s eating you up?
Rita: Why would he ask me to marry him?
Chinyere: I don’t understand you
Rita: the assistant pastor of my church asked me to see him on Sunday and on getting to his office, he claimed the Lord told him that I am meant to be his wife. First, I don’t think I am ready for marriage and second, I don’t think I would want a pastor as my husband.
Chinyere: you are very funny oooo. Do you think your excuses are genuine enough to turn down his proposal?
Rita: But…
Chinyere: The first and right thing you need to do is to pray and hear what God has to say. I need you to change your notion about pastors. No matter what has happened in the past, you need to know that God still has true ministers and sons. So, I need you to do the needful.
Madam Chinyere was able to convince Rita to pray about the Pastor’s proposal. Immediately she prayed, and she got the confirmation that he was meant to be her husband. Still, Rita didn’t want to marry him, she then decided to tell the Pastor about her past so that he would change his mind about marrying her. Surprisingly, the Pastor told her that he knows everything and was ready to accept her the way she was and even be a father to her daughter. Rita was shocked to hear him speak that way, she thought he won’t be able to accept her past but he didn’t.
Rita then had no way but to accept the Pastor as her peace of mind was being threatened when she decided not to accept the Pastor’s proposal. Six months later, Rita and Pastor David got married, it was a joyful moment for Rita and Madam Chinyere, it was a pleasant thing to see another convert doing well in Christ. Rita’s case made Madam Chinyere believe that there is nobody God can’t change. No matter how long a person dwells in sin when God is ready to change him or her, it doesn’t have to cost Him anything. That was how Rita became a Pastor’s wife and helped build her husband’s ministry.
Mrs. Amadi was mad at the fact that her daughter didn’t give her the regard she deserved, she doesn’t want Ben for her daughter but Chinwe won’t even listen to any ill thing she says about Ben. She had tried every means to get her daughter out of Ben’s life but it proved abortive, she and Collins’ mother then devised a means to break Ben and Chinwe apart.
Ben was in his office working on his system when two policemen walked in, he was surprised when they said they came to arrest him because he knew he had no issues with anyone. He went ahead to ask why they came to arrest him and they claimed he raped Miss Chinwe Amadi. Ben burst into laughter the moment he heard them, he decided to follow them to the station, write a statement and leave immediately but on getting to the station, he was forcefully pushed into the cell.
Chinwe was on her way to the kitchen the following morning to get water to use in taking some drugs when she heard her mom laughing so hard on the phone and was telling someone that the foolish Ben had been locked up in the cell. Shocked, she ran into the room to confront her mom.
Chinwe: Mummy, tell me what I heard isn’t true,
Mrs. Amadi: and what if it is? Look, you can’t hide the fact that you are pregnant and I know you are pregnant for Ben. I am sure he raped you.
Chinwe: Ben didn’t rape me but what did Ben ever do to you? Look here Mother, I am going to that station to get him bailed and if you try to pull any stunt, I will get Dad involved in this
Mrs. Amadi: you would do no such thing.
Chinwe: watch me do it, Mom.
Chinwe dressed up and drove to the police station and request bail for Ben with the claim that he didn’t rape her. The policemen on duty refused to grant him bail but immediately she involved her father, Ben’s bail was granted. Chinwe got angry the moment she saw marks on Ben’s body, it was obvious that her mother ordered the policemen to beat him. Chinwe broke down in tears and made her father understand the gravity of what his wife had done.
Chinwe drove Ben home, she planned to cook for him and also help nurse his wounds but Ben stopped her and asked her to go back home.
Chinwe: Baby, I can’t leave you in this condition
Ben: (chuckles) But when did I rape you?
Chinwe: Ben, you didn’t rape me and I never said any of sort. I never knew you were locked up till this morning when I overheard my mom telling someone that she had you locked up.
Ben: How did she know we had sex if you didn’t tell her? And to think I never wanted you into my home that evening because I knew I was vulnerable plus, we are divorced. You claim you wanted to cook for me and before we knew what was happening, we landed in bed. Maybe we should just go our separate ways because I can’t keep allowing your family to torture me.
Chinwe: I am pregnant
Ben: what???
Chinwe: I didn’t tell her anything, she found out herself and concluded that it belongs to you since I have been spending time with you then, she decided to frame you up. Ben, I am sorry, don’t give up on us
Ben: Pregnant?? Like seriously??
