“Hey” Iris muttered when Megan opened the door and she walked in. Megan looked her over and murmured a reply.
“Is Anna asleep?” she asked sitting on the couch, Megan opened her mouth to speak but..
“Mummy!” Anna called before jumping on Iris, her tiny arms around Iris’s neck.
“Mummy’s girl.. you ain’t asleep..” Iris said kissing her cheeks, then her temple while Anna giggled softly.
Megan sat opposite them… quiet, just watching.
“How have you been?” Iris asked setting her properly on her legs. Anna made a face, then shrugged.
“Lonely?” she said and Iris rubbed her hair with a soft smile though she was feeling extremely guilty. She’d always had time for the only family she got… not until this job anyways.
“You’ve eaten?” Iris asked and Anna glanced at Megan.
“Auntie Megan forced me to, I insisted on waiting for you” She licked her lips and Iris gave Megan a grateful stare.
“Mummy.. ” Anna called then paused catching Iris attention.
“What’s it? You can tell Mummy everything..” she said pinching her cheeks softly.
“It’s Father’s Day next week… can you tell Daddy to come over?” she asked and there was silence. Megan stared at Iris… well, she’d never heard anything about Savannah’s father.
“Other kids would come with their dad and… I’d like daddy to be there too” Anna said softly and Iris shook her head.
“I’m sorry sweetie…daddy won’t be able to make it” Iris whispered and Anna stilled. She blinked and then sniffed, her lips trembled.
“Does.. does Daddy even know I exist? He’d never cared about me.. all I got is you and… and… sometimes the kids at school makes jeer of me” Anna whimpered and Iris looked away.
How would she tell her kid.. she doesn’t even know her father? She’d felt for her.. she wasn’t able to have a life like other kids and mere thinking of it… is eating her apart.
How does she tell her.. her daddy loves her when she doesn’t know the man in question? Her eyes welled up…
“Anna, C’mon it’s time to sleep okay? Let me talk to mummy” Megan said softly and Anna climbed down Iris legs and ran into her room shutting the door loudly.
Iris’s tears fell and Megan drew closer to her..
“Why won’t you tell her about her dad?” Megan asked softly cautious about not trying to raise a painful past.
Most single mums out there are were they are because maybe the man rejected the baby, he cheated or as the case may be.. so she’s tryna tread softly.
Iris palmed her face and shook her head..
“Because I don’t know him… I don’t know Anna’s dad” she muttered and Megan’s eyes widened.

Bradley stirred in his sleep… he was muttering something to himself before his eyes finally snapped open.
He was covered in sweat and breathing heavily… he looked around him, he was breaking heavily. His bed light was still on, he’d slept without turning it off.
His head was banging, he climbed down the bed and walked into the bathroom. He watched his face with water and stared at the mirror.
Bradley bit his lower lip hard as her terror filled eyes filled his head. He’d scared her away, he never drinks because it turns out a disaster.
Okay.. he only had coffee before leaving to answer an urgent call. That means only one thing, whoever had given him coffee that day… had spiked it.
He clenched his fists… he had scared the living sh*t out of her and if the guards hadn’t intervened.. he might have had his way with her.
First thing to do in the morning… Apologize.

“You… OMG” Megan covered her mouth with her hand after Iris have told her the whole story.
She reached for Iris’s hand and squeezed it lightly trying to reassure her.
“You should have told me all this while..” she whispered before pulling Iris into a hug.
Iris shuddered as she wept… this time she was crying not because of Anna’s unknown father but the fear of almost being raped by her boss.. same boss she’d meet tomorrow.
“Hush… it’s okay” she whispered rubbing Iris’s shoulders.

“mum.. ” Bryan called as he entered the mansion, his guards stopped at the door. His mum had remarried, so they all lived together not until Bradley moved out because he can’t tolerate seeing their stepfather.
Mr. Titan had a daughter whom ran away.. They knew their mum wanted them to inherit Titan’s companies but they weren’t interested anyways.. they were making it in life on their own.
“Mum.. ” he called again climbing the staircase but he met her coming down already.
“My boy” Sophie called hugging Bryan tugging his hair playfully, he frowned and pushed her hand away.
She smiled and looked behind him..
“Where’s your brother?” she asked and Bryan huffed.
“Like you don’t know he’s gonna be sleeping at his mansion.. he was here yesterday anyways” Bryan shrugged and Sophie smiled
“He hasn’t found his daughter yet.. you guys would be taking over” Sophie whispered excitedly and Bryan rolled his eyes.
“Told you mum, leave the old man to his sh*t.. we ain’t interested” Bryan said as he walked past her.
Sophie frowned.. they knew nothing but she’s getting Titan’s wealth to her sons.
••• 9am, Shiny Glamours •••
“Good morning boss”
“Boss came late today”
“Good morning sir”
The workers murmured but as usual Bradley answered none of their greetings. He was late… yeah, and that’s because he was scared of facing Iris not after last night. He wasn’t even sure if she’d come to work.
He entered his office while his guards stood at the door.. outside. He turned on his laptop, clicking on their office file cam. It came on… and she was there, eyes focused on her screen.
Somehow he was elated…
He picked up his telephone and dialled her desk number… she picked immediately but her face fell when she heard his voice.
He’d called her to his office, he watched her stand gloomily dragging her legs. He shut the laptop and pulled off his suit.
He turned around and sat on his desk, his fingers drumming softly on the desk.
A knock sounded and he was quick to usher her in..
Her eyes were fixed on the floor even as she spoke… she was keeping her distance.
“Boss” she muttered and Bradley sighed softly… he was nervous too.
“Can we talk?” he asked and Iris raised her eyes to look at him, then fixed them on the floor quickly.
She shook her head..
“I’m busy boss” she mumbled and Bradley stood up tucking his hands in his pockets.
He took a step closer and all Iris protective instincts kicked in..
Her eyes were filled with alarm.. she was quick to take a step back.
“I won’t…”
“Please, don’t come close… ”
