Three days of planning and making contacts and Nkem ended up choosing her friendโs daughter, Farida, as a candidate, because she didn’t get a better option.
She had been so sure that her husband would readily accept her plans, seeing that she had taken measures to ensure that their marriage wonโt be experiencing any turbulence as a result of the plans, but not only had he refused to do her biddings, he had been very mร d with her, and stayed ร ngry for some days.
โHello Nkem, how is it going with the plans? I heard your mother in-law just arrived this morning. I hope she didnโt come with another woman this time?โ Mandy asked Nkem some weeks later, over the phone.

Then when the child is weaned, Farida would leave the child for Nkem to adopt officially and travel abroad with a good sum of money Nkem agreed to settle her with.
โSheโll find a good husband with her beauty and the money sheโll be having thenโ Mandy had said, and the two friends laughed over how it was going to be a win win for everyone.
