???????? The Other Woman Episode Thirty Seven:
While Nkem was still racking her brain to get an answer as to who may have come to her house at that time of the night, her husband walked up to the door, to know who was there.
The policemen he got to protect the house were outside the house after all.
βWhoβs there?β Joeβs baritone voice asked when he got to the door.
βItβs Jackieβ came the response from the other side of the door, and Joe flung the door open at once.
βJackie, what brings you here at this time of the night? Is everything okay?β Joe asked her in quick successions.
βYeah, I forgot my phone here when I was leaving earlier, and didnβt realize it until I needed to call my husband before going to bedβ Jackie said, walking into the house.
βAnd why are you looking like you have seen a ghΕst Nkem? Are you alright?β Jackie asked Nkem, when she got to her sides.
βJackie, we werenβt able to get those kids out of the house as plannedβ Nkem complained.
βBut I thought we agreed to have you call Max, and Joe to call Farida? What happened? Did Joe change his mind?β Jackie asked, puzzled.
βNo Jackie, I tried to call Farida as planned, but her phone has been switched off, and so is Max’sβ Joe replied Jackie, walking back to his seat, besides his wife.
βWhat are we going to do now? Itβs going to be a very messy situation if those kids are caught in the line of the police’s fireβ Jackie thought aloud.
“Ben, isn’t there something we can do? I mean, don’t you have a means of reaching hung them?” Jackie asked.
“Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do from here. I have checked a thousand times, to see if Mandy had been able to get a hold of them, but from what I have seen so far, she is also trying o reach her daughter” Ben said.
Jackie shook her head in resignation, see that Ben and Amarachi were still looking at him laptop, trying to see, if they could find something that could help.
The atmosphere was tense, and indeed, nobody seemed happy, but like Ben said, there wasnβt much they could do.
Jackie stayed for a few minutes and had to rush home, because it was already late in the night.
She advised Nkem to keep calling and hope that somehow, the phones would be turned on again.
A few minutes after Jackie left Nkemβs house, mama began to complain of headache and before long, she was losing consciousness.
βMama! Mama!! Mama!!!β Nkem screΓ med in panic,as they all rushed to Mamaβs sides.
βHelp me Ben, please help me take her to the car, quickly Amarachi, get the car key for me! Nkem, please do not make any sudden movesβ Joe screΓ med, getting everyone running and acting quickly.
Mama continued to slip in and out of consciousness, and by the time they arrived the hospital, she was totally unconscious.
The nurses rushed out to receive Mama, as soon as they reached the hospital, and she was soon lying in the hospital ward, with a nurse taking her vitals.
A doctor walked into the ward while the nurse was still taking Mamaβs vitals and began to examine her.
Some minutes later, some injections had been administered, and an infusion fluid was running, when the doctor asked Joe to come with him to his office.
The others stayed back in the ward with mama, as Joe walked out with the doctor.
Nkem was doing her best to remain calm, but deep down, she had a feeling that something serious was wrong with mama.
The doctor told Joe that mama was reacting to the effects of the concussions she had on her head, resulting from the attack she had the last time, they brought her to the hospital.
βYou know Joe, because of her age, itβs going to take a long while before she fully recovers from the effect of that experience.
βFor now, weβre going to watch her closely and see how we can keep managing her until she fully recovers.
βShe is stable right now, and she will be fit to be discharged to go home by tomorrow morning.
βBut you may also need to try to keep her from exerting so much pressure on herself. Keep her from worrying so much, and help her remain as happy as she can beβ the doctor told Joe.
βThank you doctor. Iβm so happy to know that whatever happened to her today that made her suddenly fall unconscious, isnβt life threatΓͺning.
βI’ll do as you say, and ensure she doesnβt have to face much pressure and stress. Thank you so muchβ Joe told the doctor, and walked back to the ward, to join the others.
He informed everyone that Mama was not in dangΓͺr, and told them details of what the doctor said.
They were all glad that mama wasnβt in dangΓͺr, but everyone eventually had to pass the night in the hospital, with Joe and his wife staying with mama in her private ward, and Amarachi returning to Benβs office with him.
Ben had take his annual leave, some days after the Mandy saga began, to enable him concentrate on getting the job he had done, but he decided to stick around the hospital, since he knew that Amarachi would never agree to leave the hospital, when her mother was still there.
And so, while they stayed busy, attending to mama, Mandy was facing an unprecedented situation in her house.
All along, she had been so sure that sheβd be able to get her daughter out of Maxβs house before the hit, but not only had Farida switched off her phone, Max was also unreachable.
She tried to contact Stone, to inform him that her daughter was not to be harmed no matter what, but Stone didnβt take her call.
She had exhausted every means possible, to get help for her daughter, but none came through.
Mandy was still trying to think of what to do, when Stone barged into her apartment, letting himself in, after he had destroyed the lock on her door.
βHow did you get in here?β Mandy asked him, surprised to see him in her house, at that time of the night, and when he was meant to be on a mission.
βThe question you should ask is, have you found out already?
βYouβre surprised? Oh I can see that you really took me for a complete idiΓ²t.
βHow dare you play with my intelligence woman? You think Stone just got the name Stone for nothing?β he asked her, breathing down on her face.
βCalm down Stone, please calm down. I have been facing a lot of pressure lately, and because of that boy, my daughter refused to give me the papers of that property.
βBelieve me Stone, I planned to get you the real papers as soon as the mission is accomplished, because when the boy diΓ¨s, my daughter will have no option than to return to me, then I can get the papers from herβ Mandy said, speaking rather too quickly.
βYou have just a few seconds to redeem your life. And what that means is, if youβre not quick enough to go inside and get that daughter of yours to give me the dΓ£mn papers now, youβll be cold deΓ₯d soonβ Stone said, grimacing.
βThatβs the problem Stone. My daughter ran away from home, and is now living with the boy I asked you to eliminate. She isnβt here, neither is the paperβ Mandy said, trying to see how to save herself.
βThen itβs a pity Mandy, your daughter is already stone cold now, if sheβs the company my boys told me Max hasβ he told her.
βYou better not be telling me this! I asked you to kΓ―ll a boy, not a girl. And if you have truly kΓ―lled my daughter, then you shouldn’t be talking about any paper, because weβre both going to face the law.
βYes Stone, I wonβt allow you go free for kΓ―lling my daughter, my only source and hope of wealthβ Mandy told him, suddenly going mΓ d.
βYou gave me a job, and I delivered in my own way. Youβre to pay for it, and you tried to defraud me.
βSo, youβll give me what I want now, or Iβll make you beg for deΓ£thβ Stone told her, approaching her menacingly.
He hit her hard on her head, and Mandy fell with a thud to the ground, losing consciousness instantly
When she regained consciousness, she found gènital fluids all over her body, an indication that he had abused her, while she was unconscious, plus, she was now tied to a chair in her sitting room.
βMandy, I sent my boys, all my boys on that mission because I wanted to be sure everything worked out perfectly. I had plans to sell off that property immediately and relocate with my boys, so I put in my all.
βThe other boys were to work as backup for Sparrow and Dark Angel, just to ensure that everything worked out, and you made a fΕΕl of me this way?
βThen, you dare threΓ ten me with the law? Sorry Mandy, but one of the things I donβt leave behind is a witness, and you have shown that youβre no longer a client, but a lousy witness.
βIβm going to kΓ―ll you for sure, but if you give me those papers now, Iβll make it a quick and less painful one for you. But if you keep lying about not having the papers, then Iβll make you beg for deΓ£th he told her.
βBelieve me Stone, I donβt have the papersβ she said, and her words had barely left her mouth, when Stone went behind her, and got her mouth gagged, before he walked into her kitchen.
Mandy looked in fear as he approached her with the different kinds of knives he returned with.
βAre you giving me the papers?β Stone asked her again and she was making gestures that Stone interpreted to mean a negative response.
He stepped back in Γ£nger, and when he got close to her again, the knife in his right hand, stabbed straight into her left knee, piercing through her knee cap, and got Mandy howling helplessly, yet with only a muffled sound, because her mouth had been securely gagged
