Zion’s POV
Zion avoided the gaze of his son while he drived. He knew Kenneth had a lot of questions in his mind but he wasn’t ready to answer them.
He was perplexed. Priscilla’s look flashed back into his head. She was right there standing in front of him.
“Priscilla Flora lewis.”
Rang a bell in his head.
Of cos, it wasn’t a coincidence. He felt guilty that Priscilla had not move on after what had happened in the past. He felt Priscilla had not recovered from the damage his parents had caused her.
When they returned home Kenneth dashed into his room. Zion wished he could say something to his son but words were not coming out no matter how hard he tried.
“How will he feel if I told him my parents were responsible for his separation with his mom? How would he feel if I made him aware that Priscilla’s parents chose money over him? How on earth will he feel that I hid such a big thing from him?”
Zion asked within.
He was engrossed in thoughts. He sat down on the chair thinking of what next to do.
Priscilla’s POV
“My past is here to haunt me.”
Priscilla lamented bitterly.
“I am sorry Priscil but it’s not that bad.”
Laura consoled Priscilla.
“It’s bad. The situation is terrible than you can imagine. Oh heavens! And to think I desperately wanted to see Zion’s face. Now that have seen him I feel empty. Laura there’s nothing that beats the emptiness and guilt I feel right now.”
“It’s going to be fine. I assure you Kenneth will understand your side of the story. He will.”
“No , he won’t understand. I’m afraid he will hate his father after he knows the truth. It’s better I keep being in the dark. I am not even worth being identified as Kenneth’s mom anyway.”
“How on earth would you say such? That’s degrading and you talked to me against such.”
“Kenneth has grown into a handsome young man. He’s a dignified and a recommendable private investigator. Zion tried his best in polishing him. Preharps he wouldn’t have gone far in life if I was the one who trained him. I say so because I lack the resources to make him attain the level he is now.”

“But that’s if he gets an idea of my identity. He wouldn’t know a thing or Think of digging into the past if something didn’t arouse him to do.”
“The way Zion stared at you has aroused him to take steps already. You think Kenneth won’t ask his father why your bright face suddenly became gloomy after I introduced you two. He’s a private investigator remember. He’s had vast experiences.”
“I can’t expect less from someone who figured out where you are. You are right dear. Thanks for standing by me I appreciate and I never take it for granted. No matter what turns out I will survive it.”
“That’s the spirit. Its all good. You will see everything will turn out fine. Just clear your doubts and you are good to go. No matter what happen have it in mind that I am always here for you. I love you Priscil.”
“I just needed to hear the magic words at this trying moment. I love you too darling.”
Priscilla hugged Laura and held her in her arms. Laura smiled and felt at ease when Priscilla’s face brightened again. For her Priscilla deserved nothing less than happiness. She had suffered a lot and she couldn’t wait to see her sing the song of victory at last.
Next two days
Charles’s POV
Charles stared at the judge intensely. He was heated up within.
Laura and Steve was on seat. They were there to console Charles. Within the days Laura got to spend with Charles she had grown fond of him. However justice was to be served.
Laura was called in court to tell her side of the story. Laura took the bible and swore to tell nothing but the truth. She made it clear to everybody present in the court that Charles had never hurt her during her stay.
After hearing from the witnesses’s side and the lawyers with the evidences tabled against Charles in court for his atrocities. Charles was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment with hard labour. Charles’s face turned pale immediately he heard the judge verdict.
Steve stood up and hugged him.
“I promise I will always come to check up on you bro. Please it’s not the end of the world.”
“Thank you man. You’ve tried your best for me. Sorry for the hurtful words I said the other day. I was pained.”
“I understand . I forgot about that already.”
“Thank you I am indebted to your kindness.”
Steve chuckled.
Charles turned his gaze to Laura and spoke. The officers were getting impatient . Laura pleaded they let Charles speak and they listened to her.
“You’ve got a good heart Laura. You had the chance to paint me black but you stood by the truth. You are one rare soul. You deserve all the happiness the universe can give out. A soul like you should be adored.”
Laura smiled and bid Charles farewell.
Steve and Laura took their leave after Charles was out of sight.
Kenneth’s POV
Kenneth resolved within that his father was hiding something from him. Zion had turned into a shadow of himself with guilt after him and Priscilla met in the party.
The change was so visible and that made Kenneth worried. He was determined to find out what had happened in the past between his father and Priscilla at all cost. He felt there was more to the story his father had told him.
He had handled family cases so his experience made him know something was up and he was determined to fish it out.
He began his investigations by digging into Priscilla’s identity. Firstly he got Priscilla’s full name and the school she had attended. He didn’t see anything suspicious until he dug further. He was shocked when he found out Priscilla had a son when she was younger.
Kenneth used his resources to fish out the hospital Priscilla had delivered the baby in. When he got the name of the hospital and the address he went to the hospital to collect some useful data about the son Priscilla had given birth to. His efforts were successful due to his connection. He had a hard time getting the facts out though there were obstacles on his way but he got rid of them all.
Kenneth was shocked when he found out the child Priscilla had birthed was declared deéad in the hospital.
Something just wasn’t adding up.
“If the child was deéad then why wasn’t the body given to Priscilla?”
Kenneth soliloquized.
